Is percussion massage the next big thing?
At Flow Sports Technology Europe we think percussion therapy is a great way to help athletes reach their full potential. But what exactly is percussion massage?
Percussion massage is a method of using a tool to apply short-term pulses of pressure to soft body tissue. In short, it's like hitting your muscles with a mini jackhammer.
With a massage gun like the Flow PRO or Flow MINI, you can deliver a series of short bursts of pressure into your tissue - i.e. your muscles, tendons and ligaments.
There are a number of good reasons why you should do exactly that.
1. Better and faster regeneration
After a workout, working with a massage gun is a great way to stimulate and increase blood flow to the muscles that were just working. This increased blood flow means your muscles can repair faster and you can get back into action more quickly. In other words, you can significantly reduce the effect of muscle soreness. Using a flow massage gun can also reduce the amount of lactic acid in your muscles, meaning you can get an immediate reduction in pain after exercise.
2. Improved warm-up
Percussive therapy is also useful before training. If you work with the Flow PRO or Flow MINI at a higher frequency on the muscle areas that you want to target during training, these will be loosened, blood circulation stimulated and the range of motion expanded. Instead of starting your training tense and stiff, you can start your workout or training session better prepared. It is important, however, that the massage cannot completely replace a general and specific warm-up. However, the massage gun can be a good addition to your warm-up.
3. Elimination of tension
Like a traditional sports massage, percussion therapy can also be used to treat sore, knotted muscles and release pressure or trigger points. Problems that have traditionally been addressed with a foam roller, such as: B. a tense IT band, tension in the neck or an aching back can be treated in less than a minute due to the fast frequency of the device.
It also means that you no longer have to spend your fascia training rolling uncomfortably on the floor or standing against the wall with a ball. With a flow massage gun you can easily massage away your tension while sitting or standing. After an accident or surgery, percussion massage can also be a way to break down scar tissue and speed recovery.
In summary, massaging with one of our Flow massage guns is more comfortable than a sports massage, significantly more comfortable than a foam roller, faster than a lengthy warm-up and cool-down routine, and softer than a jackhammer. :)
